Dear Smithtown Schools Community,

Spring has finally sprung! We can only hope Mother Nature has decided to take it easy on us for the final few months of the school year.

This time of year is always exciting. While we are preparing to send our high school seniors to begin their lives outside of our hallways, we are also getting ready to welcome our newest and youngest members to our district through kindergarten orientations. As a parent of two boys myself, I am familiar with the feelings of sending your 18-year-old to a world filled with unknowns, and of preparing for your 5-year-old to begin their educational career. Both are huge milestones for a child and for their parents.

As your superintendent, I am confident that our seniors and future kindergartners are both ready for the new world that awaits them. Our seniors have been fully prepared by our wonderful staff of educators and have been provided the tools necessary to be successful. When our newest generation of Smithtown Bulls enters our doors on Sept. 5, they will begin an exciting 13-year journey through our district.

In addition to all of the wonderful year-end activities throughout the district, we are also finalizing our proposed 2018-19 budget. If you have not been able to attend any of our workshops, all of the information is posted on our budget page. You can access that information through this link. Please take the opportunity to review the information, as well as the special budget edition of the Spotlight that will be mailed to your homes at the end of April, and remember to vote on May 15.
